The Villa Flora historical, artistic, and naturalistic complex, located in Municipio II, enjoys a position of scenic and historical interest: on a hill overlooking Via Portuense, it is a place rich in historical value and an important reference point for local residents.
Given the need to redevelop the Villa Flora complex for community life, through a participatory process shared by the PAU Department of Rome Capital, Municipio II, and various neighborhood associations and citizens, the project aims to restore a long-abandoned asset to the city and make it usable for the needs of the urban community.
The Casino Nobile, with its eclectic forms inspired by neo-medieval and neo-Renaissance models, rises an imposing crenellated tower with mullioned windows. In a lower position are several farmhouses, organized according to the layout of an agricultural village, currently home to associations and a small theater.
The restoration of the buildings and the architectural redevelopment of the open spaces and buildings, including seismic upgrades and energy efficiency improvements, aims to restore public usability, safety, and sustainability to create a civic center that will be a new hub for socializing, culture, and recreation, accessible to all. The goal of the project projects currently underway is to redevelop the entire area, enhancing both the existing architectural structures of historical and documentary value and the green spaces of the adjacent public park.
