The office births and developes in Rome from 2004 as the union of the Christian Rocchi and Valeria Caramagno experiences.

The office is specialized in the restoration and the structural consolidation of historical buildings, the architectural and urban projects characterized by the particular attention to the relationship between the history and the constructive technics, with the research of compatible and suitable solutions aimed to the adaptation of the buildings to the contemporary uses, and the residential buildings.

More recently, the studio has been applying its expertise in the relationship between landscape and architecture to develop environmentally sustainable design approaches and to experiment with new urban settlement systems based on the principles of the circular economy.
The studio’s work is carried out through continuous dialogue with institutions and administrative bodies responsible for safeguarding and overseeing the historical and urban planning integrity of complex interventions.

/ Valeria Caramagno

Architect, Co-founder

Valeria Caramagno graduated from the Mediterranean University of Reggio Calabria on May 15, 1997, with top honors (110/110 cum laude). She has been a registered member of the Order of Architects, Planners, Landscape Architects and Conservators of Rome since 1998.

  • 2010: Co-founder of CHVL Architetti Associati;
  • 2010 – present: Founding partner and lead designer at CHVL Architetti Associati;
  • 2019 – present: Head of public procurement and external relations for design competitions and technical service tenders;
  • 2023 – 2025: Head of project management for public works;
  • 2005 – 2010: Editorial board member of AR, the bimonthly magazine of the Order of Architects of Rome and Province;
  • 2005 – 2008: Adjunct professor in the Master’s Degree Program in Landscape Architecture at the Faculty of Architecture, Sapienza University of Rome, teaching “History of Modern and Contemporary Gardens”;
  • 2004: Registered with the Order of Architects of Rome and Province (registration no. 16142);
  • 2001 – 2004: PhD in Architecture of Parks, Gardens and Territorial Planning, with a dissertation on the regeneration of disused quarry sites, supervised by Prof. Franco Zagari and Prof. Gianpiero Donin; PhD awarded in May 2004;
  • 2001 – 2004: Associate at Delogu Associati Architecture Studio;
  • 2000: Participated in an intensive masterclass at the Berlage Institute in Amsterdam, visiting professor architect Toyo Ito;
  • 1998 – 2000: Professional experience in national and international firms, including Bureau B + B Stedebouw en Landschapsarchitectuur B.V. (September 1999 – September 2000); coordinated relations with other firms and companies for international design competitions;
  • 1998 – 2004: Tutor at the Faculty of Architecture, Mediterranean University of Reggio Calabria;
  • 1998: Qualified to practice as an architect and registered with the Order of Architects of Syracuse.

/ Christian Rocchi

Architect, Co-founder

Christian Rocchi graduated from the Faculty of Architecture at the University of Rome “La Sapienza” in 1998 and has been a registered member of the Order of Architects of Rome since 1999.

  • September 2025 – present: President of the Order of Architects of Rome and Province;
  • 2022 – present: Member of the Honor Commission for the “Day of Legality” (23 May) of the Order of Architects of Rome and Province;
  • 2022: Member of the Commission of the Superior Council of Public Works for the drafting of guidelines for the PFTE (Technical and Economic Feasibility Project) of specific public works;
  • 2022: Appointed by the Mayor of Rome, R. Gualtieri, as Member of the Co.Q.U.E Commission for Urban and Building Quality of Roma Capitale;
  • 2021: Delegate for national affairs of the Order of Architects of Rome and Province;
  • 2021: President of the Order of Architects of Rome and Province;

/ Meet the Team

Francesco Stapane

Architect, Associate

Graduated from the Faculty of Architecture at Sapienza University of Rome in 1999 and has been a registered member of the Order of Architects of Rome and Province since 2000.
Since 2022, he has been a member of the Co.Q.U.E Commission for Urban and Building Quality of Roma Capitale.

Since 2017, he has been an associate architect at CHVL Architetti Associati, where he is responsible for administrative aspects, site management and safety; specialized design and construction supervision in the healthcare sector; and contributes to the organizational management of the project team.

From 2017 to 2025, he served as a Council Member of the Order of Architects of Rome and Province, with delegated responsibilities for “Member Services” and “Relations with Authorities in charge of building and urban planning matters.” From 2013 to 2022, he was President of ALOA – Cultural Association of the Order of Architects of Rome and Province, of which he was one of the founders in 2009. From 2005 to 2022, he worked as a consultant for leading banking institutions, carrying out executive design, construction supervision, safety coordination, and building management services. From 2000 to 2015, he was a technical consultant for private companies and the Lazio Region in the field of regional funding for public and private entities, performing verification and monitoring of funded projects. From 2000 to 2014, he gained experience in the fields of construction, urban planning, and territorial development, collaborating with various professional firms.

In 2001, he founded the Associated Architecture Studio – Architetti Giorgio e Francesco Stapane, based in Rome.

In 2000, he collaborated with Risorse per Roma S.p.A. on the preparation of preliminary analyses for the new Master Plan of Rome.

/ Dilyana Anatolieva Mihova

Born in Bulgaria in 1991, she graduated in 2016 with a degree in Architecture from the University of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy in Sofia, Bulgaria, with a final grade of 5.25/6.
During the same period, she participated in an exchange program at the École Nationale d’Architecture de Paris-Belleville in Paris.

In 2020, she earned a Master’s Degree in Architecture and Restoration in Rome, graduating with top honors (110/110 cum laude), and also took part in several workshops on urban regeneration and the use of Revit software.

Since graduation, she has gained substantial experience working in Sofia, Orvieto, and Rome, carrying out design activities—including competition projects—as well as 3D modeling, rendering, and BIM applications.

Since 2022, she has been practicing independently and collaborating with CHVL Architetti Associati as a Project Manager, handling the design of historically significant buildings and coordinating both the design and implementation phases.

/ Beatrice Pia Pizzicaroli

Born in Latina in 1997, she graduated in 2021 with a degree in Architecture from Sapienza University of Rome, with a thesis in architectural and urban design, earning top honors (110/110 cum laude).

In the same year, she qualified as a professional architect, and in 2024 she was registered with the Order of Architects, Planners, Landscape Architects and Conservators of Rome and Province (registration no. 27888).

Even before completing her studies, she participated in several design competitions and workshops with students and diverse research groups, focusing mainly on public space regeneration, heritage enhancement, urban morphology, landscape, and environmental issues; she received honorable mentions and had her work published.

Since graduation, she has also served as a tutor at the Faculty of Architecture, Sapienza University of Rome, and, through internships, collaborated with various professional firms in Rome and with the real estate department of the Bank of Italy.

 

Since 2024, she has been practicing independently and collaborating with CHVL Architetti Associati, handling design work, including authorization documentation, 3D modeling, and BIM.

/ Alessia Mennella

architect

Born in 1996 in Torre del Greco, she graduated in 2019 from the University of Naples Federico II with a degree in Architectural Sciences, earning top honors (110/110 cum laude) with a thesis in Architectural Survey and Representation.

In 2024, she completed her Master’s Degree in Architecture – Architectural Design, also with top honors (110/110 cum laude), with a thesis in Architectural and Urban Composition focused on the redevelopment of the former Spina CIS area in Ponticelli through the design of a senior housing project, aimed at regenerating the urban area while addressing specific social needs.

During her studies, she participated in workshops and curricular internships, enhancing her training and refining her design skills in architecture and participatory design.

Since 2024, she has been collaborating with CHVL Architetti Associati.

/ Michele Scarlata

architect

Born in 1998 in Caltanissetta, he graduated in 2023 with a degree in Architecture from the University of Ferrara, earning a grade of 107/110.

During his studies, he participated in several design competitions, developing a strong interest in urban regeneration and architectural composition. In the same period, he took part in an exchange program at the Technische Universität München (TUM) in Germany, gaining experience in an international and dynamic environment through workshops and lectures.

His professional experience began during his studies, working as a 3D modeler and renderer. He later collaborated with several design studios in Ferrara and Rome, developing a significant interest in new BIM methodologies for the reuse and restoration of existing built heritage.

Since 2024, he has been registered with the Order of Architects of Rome and practices independently as a designer at CHVL Architetti Associati.
